Class of 2020 :: Jocelyn

“My favorite animal is the turtle. The reason is that in order for the turtle to move, it has to stick its neck out. There are going to be times in your life when you’re going to have to stick your neck out. There will be challenges and instead of hiding in a shell, you have to go out and meet them.” –Ruth Westheimer

If there is ever a time where you are required to stick your neck out, it’s graduation. You have spent 12 years, 18 really, in relative safety with your path laid out before you. Kindergarten to grade 12, you know the basic outline of your journey. Sure, each of us travels that journey in our own way but it’s relatively safe for most.

And then you graduate. A chapter closes. There are seemingly endless opportunities in front of you. It’s time to stick out your neck and move. Meet the challenges head on. Take one step at a time. Start dreaming and building the next part of your journey. It’s yours. You decide.

Jocelyn, be like the turtle. Don’t be afraid to stick your neck out. Be brave, be bold, move forward one step at a time - slow and steady. That’s how the turtle does it - and create a life full of things that set your heart on fire.

Congratulations on your graduation. You are the class of 2020.
